Our Science program covers life science, physical science, earth science
and the human body. The program is based on National Science Education
Standards and state science frameworks. Topics studied, in age-appropriate
ways, include: the origin, structure and physical phenomena of the earth
and the universe, the diversity, complexity and interconnectedness of life
on earth, the composition, structure, properties and reactions of matter
and the relationships between matter and energy and solving practical problems
through the development or use of technologies.
The program includes texts, hands-on activities and experiments and resources like audio CDs and cassettes, graphic organizers and classroom kits to make science accessible and fun for all students. The program also integrates reading, writing and math concepts to reinforce what is being learned in other subject areas.
We hold a Science Fair each year to enable students in each grade to focus on a particular topic, create visuals to demonstrate their mastery and present their learnings to a group of classmates, teachers and parents.
